Volunteer Opportunities
We are always looking for volunteers to help us do our best work, and many roles are filled by volunteers both inside the Centre and out in the community.
We understand that is not easy to work around the difficult realities of child abuse, so we offer additional support to navigate through each role. To determine if you are a good match for us, the following questions can give useful insights into your personal limitations, boundaries, and wellness.
How much time can I commit?
Do I prefer direct contact (victim advocate) or a behind-the-scenes role?
What is my motivation for becoming a volunteer?
Can I handle working directly with abused children and their families?
Due to the nature of what we do, we require all volunteers to complete the following steps in order to apply, so we can ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children.
- Contact the CACAC to arrange your attendance at an information session.
- Following the information session, you will receive your volunteer application package.
- Applications will be processed, and you will be contacted for an interview.
- Depending on the role, all appropriate Children’s Services and RCMP checks will be completed.
- You are now ready to volunteer and start making a difference. Together, we will change the way our communities respond to child abuse.

Centre Administration
If you have the skills to help in the daily operations of the Centre, and are willing to offer two hours a week to being a behind-the-scenes everyday hero, we are always looking for administrative help.

Victim Advocate
Would you like to work directly with the children affected by child abuse and their caregivers? As part of the team of victim advocates you provide support and community referrals, and help families to navigate the justice system.

Events Planning
If you don’t want to work directly with the children and families at the Centre, event volunteering is a great option. We are involved in many events, within our organization and in the community, and our volunteers help plan, organize and host many special events and projects throughout the year.

Researchers
As our Centre builds towards the future, there is a need to develop programs and ensure we are providing the best practices for our staff, service team, and the children we serve. Time commitment for this role varies depending on the scope of work with each program.

Quilt Making
Each child who visits our Centre is given their very own quilt to take home – symbolizing the warmth and wraparound service they receive from visiting. Share the comfort of such an incredible gift by making them right in your own home.
